The Fall 2009 issue of Second Culture is now available online via Issue.com.
In this issue, I take a look at the world of BBW avatars, child avatars, and the role of freebies in the SL economy.
I also ask the question of why so many nude beaches have visitors who aren’t nude, why some club owners have poor attitudes and huge egos, and I review the sad case of Congressman Mark Kirk.
I conclude by taking a look at the so-called “police” forces that are found in Second Life. They have no real rule-enforcement ability unless given them by land owners and they’re not officially recognized by Linden Labs. In some cases, they’ve even threatened rule-abiding residents.
